Neural Mechanisms of Mindfulness Training
This link will open a new browser window to show a seven minute video that discusses mindfulness training and the use of biofeedback and neurofeedback in the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Judson Brewer, of the Yale School of Medicine, discusses how neurofeedback and biofeedback are tools to help patients learn to reach a state of mindfulness. Dr. Brewer reports that these treatment approaches rival, and in some cases exceed the efficacy of psycho-pharmacology—for a number of psychiatric disorders, such as addiction, anxiety, and depression.
